This was the best wedding that I second shot last year. Everything looked vintage and handmade. It was so amazing. When I arrived I was SO excited. The colors were great. It was cloudy most of the day so that meant good lighting. I think these are some of my best pictures yet. What do you think? Hope you like them! :)

Two posts in one week?! Talk about a miracle. ;) The past two months I've been doing sessions like crazy. That sounds so great but I haven't been having as much fun with them because I've been so busy and stress. They haven't even been my best work. Now some look great but then others look like what I've would have taken months ago. I can't do anything about it now though...

This session was one of my okay sessions. Not bad pictures but not what I was hoping for. This is my cousin and his fiance. They were both a little camera shy but I think they did great. I had tons of fun. I absolutely love seeing couples that are so in love but don't have to act all lovey dovey. That's how these too are. You can tell when they look at each other. They don't have to be affectionate all the time but you can still just tell! That's my favorite "kind" of couple. I can't wait to attend their wedding in a few months!! :)

I really cannot believe myself!! I can't believe that I've gone THIS long without posting. Y'all. That's completely insane!! I feel so awful. I'm sure I've lost a lot of followers but oh well. I'm starting new! Hopefully sometime this week I can change my design up a little since I can't even remember what it looks that... Wow! That's how long it's been since I blogged last! So crazy!! I'm really going to try to get better. I promise! :)

I hope y'all had a great Christmas and New Year! January 1st was my 16th birthday. I had a great day!! :) Here are some pictures I took of my little sister, BB, today. Can someone say model?! Wow! I haven't posted in over a week, I think. I am so very sorry. I started working two weeks ago and life has just been crazy. School is a mess also. I need to be spending more time on those things for right now. I'm not going to stop blogging but I'm just going to post when I can. I'm not going to guilt myself into posting. I'll post when I'm in a posting mood! Ha! Just wanted to let y'all know I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. I'm still here!

Gosh. That's so hard. I'm sure a lot of other people could probably think of a lot for me but it's hard to come up with them yourself! Haha I would say that I love to watch old black and white movies. So many people don't. They think they're boring but they are my absolute favorite! :)

2. What's your favorite thing to get at Starbucks (or your favorite coffee shop)?

I always get Double Chocolaty Chip! I don't even know if I spelled that right. Ha I get it because I don't like coffee at all and this doesn't have any coffee in it. :)

Canadian Bacon!! :) Love it.

4. Waffles or pancakes?

Pancakes! Love them. I'm craving them right now. They're even better with chocolate chips in them and cool whip on top.

5. Have you ever dyed your hair?

Nope. Never. I got a perm when I was like 10 I think. I'm not going to color my hair for awhile I'm sure. I have natural highlights at the front of my hair and I don't want that to go away! :)

I'm sure you've all noticed my lack of posts. Life has been pretty crazy for me right now. I'm sure you're all busy as well. As we're approaching the holidays we're all getting busier. I love this time of the year though. Everyone is so happy but busy and stressed at the same time. For some reason it's so lovely.

It's also exciting because I love buying gifts for family and friends. It's such a thrill finding the perfect gift. This time is also exciting because it's Thanksgiving (great food,) then Christmas (always so much fun,) and then New Years which is also my birthday! Like the song says "It's the most wonderful time of the year!"

This time of the year though brings along a lot of business as I already said. Which leads me to tell y'all that Mikayla and I are ending {A Photo} Challenge. It was tons of fun and we're so happy that people linked up and had fun with us. It was great getting so see the talent that y'all have. It was great! :) You can read her post HERE. I might be starting something new though with a dear friend! It's going to be great!! :) We're going to try to start it as soon as possible. This 100% cotton, olive green backpack has been printed with an image of a Smena Symbol camera that was given to me by my buddy, Danny, who got it from his step mom, who got it when she was a little girl in the Netherlands. Made in the former USSR and now living with me in Pennsylvania, this camera has traveled!

The image was designed and hand-printed by me using non-toxic, water based ink. Because of the screen printing process, there will be slight differences from bag to bag. Each one will be unique!
The bag measures at 14 ½ inches wide by 17 ½ inches tall, with cotton webbing straps. There is one large main compartment and a front zippered pocket. A great bag for carrying your photo gear, school books or anything you need for a day at the beach. Just the right size for your laptop too!

I was talking to my friend, Tori, the other day and she told me she wanted me to take some pictures of her at church yesterday. I was super excited because I love taking pictures of teen girls. They're the best! Tori is one of my closest friends and I love her. We can joke and mess with each other but we can also be serious...sometimes. ;) We have so much fun with each other and I'm so glad I have the friends I do. We are all pretty close and such a great group of friends. We all have so much fun together and I'm pretty sure we're all quite goofy in most people's eyes. I don't care though because that's who we are! :)

I kept telling her to do the model face and she kept saying she didn't know how to. I think she nailed it! :)

Lately I've been really busy. Busy with school, photography, editing photos, life. I've been really loving weekends and get so excited when they get here. They are the best. You don't have to think about school, which is great! School has been really crazy lately because my two younger siblings are now going to public school so my mom's been working. Which means not so much help with school for me. Sometimes it's okay. Let's be honest though, sometimes I want to be selfish and want the attention they get. I crave to be the one that's getting the help. To be the one that's not a few days behind on school. That's not what's happening so I have to be okay with that. We are at a new place in life and I have to get used to it. Everything can't go the way that I want it to go.

Things are changing and will be changing within the next year. I'll be turning 16. I'll be able to take dual credit classes at our local college which I'm pretty scared about! I'll be able to get a job. I'm growing up. I'm growing into a young lady. I'm not the young preteen that I sometimes still see myself as. I was talking to a friend and we were saying that we're getting to the age that we can really date, but sometimes it's weird because we don't see ourselves as that age. We still see ourselves as too young for that stuff. It's kinda crazy because my mom met my dad when she was 16 and they've been married for over 22 years. I'm almost 16.

Time is flying by. Do any of y'all feel like that? This year has flown by. It's almost 2012. We have three more months of 2011 to enjoy. We need to soak up every moment of it. Right now it's still hot here (I wore shorts today) but pretty soon it'll be getting cooler. It'll start feeling like Fall. My favorite season of the year. Jeans, sweaters, long sleeve shirts, knee high socks, jackets. I could go on and on. It'll be here any day.

I need to focus on not being so busy. I need to focus on those times that I can spend with family and friends. We need to enjoy and cherish those times. I'm always saying I'm bored but I need to love those down times. Life is moving so fast. We all need to slow down.

I really don't know where I was going with this post. I'm of course not the best writer but I just let the words flow to my fingers. I don't know if any of this made sense to any of y'all but it did to me. I hope it meant something to at least one of you. That's always my hope. That I can at least help or encourage one person. I guess I'm done now. Oh yeah, thank you to all of you who commented on my previous post! Y'all are so sweet! Love y'all!! :)

second shooting.

Today I wanted to share some different things about wedding photography. Especially second shooting. Second shooting means that you are the second photographer. You aren't the main one but you're the back up photographer. I've never shot a wedding on my own but I think I would rather be the second shooter. That way you get to focus on those little things. :) Here we go!!

1. Stay out of the way.

That is the number one thing. You really need to pay attention where the main photographer is and make sure that you are out of their shot. If they've got the shot you need to back off and let them. While he/she is getting one shot you can grab all the bridesmaids and get their pictures. That way you get something done instead of just standing there.

2. Be there.

If they need you to do something. Do it! If they ask you to run and get a lens you need to RUN and get that lens! You're there to help and assist them. You need to do everything that they tell you to do even if you don't agree with it. You can ask them if they need you to get the pictures of the bouquet, rings, shoes, anything! The worst thing they can say is no.

3. Get those details.

Be sure to get those little details just in case she/he doesn't. It's better to have pictures twice then to not have them even once.

4. Be prepared.

You need to make sure that you are aware of what is going on around you. You need to make sure you get those little girls hugging, the grandparents dancing, the mother's wiping their eyes. You really just need to look around to see who all is doing what.

5. Ask questions.

Don't feel bad asking questions. That's the only way you'll learn! Ask the main photographer if you're doing things right or if you're in the right places. If you feel uncertain about anything you need to ask! If you're riding with the photographer then you can use the times when you're in the car and you're riding to the reception location. Ask away!! :)

6. Make a plan.

You need to meet up with the photographer and plan things out. You need to decide who's getting what shots and all that. You need to be sure that you don't get too many shots of one things so you need to talk about it first.

7. Be creative.

Since you are the second shooter you can get those really creative shots. You don't really have to focus on getting the "have to" shots. You can have A LOT more fun in this position. It's way more fun. I think everyone would rather get those fun ones. :)

I say that because today is the first official day of Fall. It doesn't feel like Fall at all. Y'all have no idea. It's still in the 90s. Yes, the 90s! Isn't that awful? I am so ready for fall. I'm so ready to wear jeans, sweaters, scarves, and coats. We are no where near that. We'll be wearing shorts for about another month. Some of you live where it's already cold. I'm jealous. ;)

It's not just hot, we haven't had much rain. Our pond is empty (and it had about 5 big dead fish). It's so gross. We have two inch cracks in the ground. It's pretty bad. I think that most of the fires stopped so that's really good. I pray that a cold front will come right down here in Texas and we will have true Fall weather. :)

The weather here has been amazing here! :) There have been a lot of wildfires in Texas. We haven't had any in our area though. We all need to pray for those people that are having those horrible things happen to them. It's really cool here and I even wore jeans today! :) It's been extremely hot lately so it was a really nice change. Fall is my favorite season so I'm getting really excited. I love fall and winter because it seems like everyone is happy. I can't believe that in a few months it will be Christmas and then seven days later it will be my birthday! I will be SIXTEEN! I can't believe I'm that old. When I was little I though 16 year old people were so grown up and now I'm almost that age. Crazy! :)

Lately my photography has been going so well. I've second shot two weddings and I'm doing another this Saturday. I'm super excited for Saturday because we know both the families. I can't wait!! :) I also get to shoot it with my youth minister's wife, Mindy. We're pretty close friends too! You can check out her work on her Facebook!

Well, I'm at that point again where I don't know what to post! I think we all have that problem sometime of another... So, I'm just going to do random ramblings. How does that sound?

1. everyday now. Everyday this week I've gone to my grandma's house. It's pretty good. It's way better than sitting at home all by myself everyday. She has really pretty flowers that I love to take pictures of! :)

2. i just. I just ordered a new pair of TOMS yesterday! :) I just got plain black ones to wear to second shoot weddings in! I'm super excited to get them!! :)

3. i've been loving. I've really been loving wedding photography. Doing it and looking at it. It's tons of fun but kinda stressful. It's really cool though because it's like your are apart of that day. You are important. My favorite thing to do is take pictures of the details. :)

4. one of my favorites. One of my favorite wedding (or any) photographers in Jamie Delaine. Oh my word! She has BEAUTIFUL work. Gosh. It's SO pretty! I just love it! :) Y'all definitely need to go check out her work!! She also has the cutest clothes that she shoots weddings in. And she wears TOMS!! I just love her!! :) Oh and did I mention she's only 21? Pretty aren't they?

5. i've been thinking. A friend told me I should start doing something called blog advertising. It would be $3 for a month of advertising. I would put your blog button on my sidebar for a whole month. Would y'all do that? Do y'all even think it's a good idea?! By the way. Y'all should go check out Kiley's blog! :)

6. facebook. Did y'all know I had a photography Facebook?! Y'all should like it!! :)

7. new. I got some new nail polish a few days ago! I love the color! It's my favorite. :)

These two girls were my closest friends when we were little. I'm the oldest out of the three but only by a few months. Marlo and I went to the same church since we were born. Then came Shelby when she was about 4. We all became best friends. When we were about 10 Shelby moved to Kansas. Later that year I move churches. So we left Marlo all alone. She still asks why we left her alone with all of the boys that we had in our class.

We all three got together while Shelby came back to Texas a few weeks ago. It was tons of fun! :) As I was testing out the settings I got this good picture of them... :) Shelby has the light hair and Marlo has the dark hair.

random ramblings.

I feel like I need to post. I don't know why though. :) I think I'll just do random ramblings.

Today I get to... second shoot my first wedding. Isn't that exciting! I can't wait! I'll most likely put pictures up after... Maybe next week or something.

There will be... no {A Photo} Challenge this week. I will post the favorite on Sunday but we'll pick the challenge back up next week. That gives you more time to prepare for the theme a photo of what you wore today.

I've been into... collecting old cameras lately! :) I love it! I have 6 already. Right now I'm collecting old suitcases and cameras. Next I want to start collecting old records. What do you collect?

I was on the staff last year and I applied again this year. We want more people to apply this year! :) Here's a little about it...

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hey everyone!! :) I'm a teen photographer that loves God with all my heart! I love to go to church every week and play piano. I love to blog too!! You can check out my blog here. I'll be in 10th grade this fall and I'll turn 16 in January. I'm currently learning how to drive and that's a whole different story!

2. How long have you been interested in photography, and what got you started?

I have been interested in photography since early 2009. I had gone up into youth somewhere around that time and my youth minister's wife is a professional photographer. I loved looking at all her pictures and I could see things that other people couldn't. :)

3. What kind of camera do you have, and when did you get your first camera?

I use a Canon XTi currently. I want to upgrade as soon as I get enough money!! My first camera was a red Kodak point and shoot that I got in April 2009.

4. What is your favorite thing to take pictures of?

People for sure! I love it! :)

5. What is your favorite picture that you have taken?

6. What photographers inspire you?

Jessica Shae, ree photography, Errin Andrus Photography, and many, many more!

7. When did you start your blog, and why?
I started it in April 2010. I started it because I wanted everyone to see my pictures. Boy, if you look back you can tell I've gotten so much better!!

8. What are some of your favorite things to do besides photography?
I said a few of these at the beginning but I'll say them again. Go to church, watch classic movies, edit pictures, play piano, hang out with friends, and much more!

9. Do you sell your photos anywhere?
Kinda. I have an Etsy but I only have two things on there. I'm about to add a page to my blog though!! :)

10. What is one random fact about yourself?
I've played piano for 9 years now. :)

1. Name and Blog Name

Hi my name is Kiley, and I blog over at Click and Capture Photography. I am a teenage girl with a heart for Jesus, who loves photography, my family, laughter, friends, animals, and everyday life.

2. What is your blog about?

My blog is about my everyday life and the little "sessions" I do. I'd like to call myself a photographer but really i'm just playing around with my camera and snapping everything in sight. ;) It's good practice, though.

3. How long have you been interested in photography?

I have been interested in photography since I was 8, but I really starting enjoying it more when I got my first "good point and shoot" which was about two years ago.

4. What kind of camera do you use?

In September of 2010 I bought my first SLR, which was a Canon XSi, I really enjoyed it, and I decided photography was what I loved. I wanted to upgrade a little bit, and switch to Nikon so on April 9th, 2011 I bought a Nikon d3100, which is what I still have and I love every bit of it! :)

5. Do you sell you pictures? If so why did you decide to?

Yes, I do sell my pictures. I decided to sell them because I thought it would be a really fun thing to do, I guess. I don't know, I don't think I really had a great reason to. You can see my shop here.

6. What kind of things inspire you?

Life inspires me. It really does. Life is beautiful. Although, I really love vintage photographs and anything with a bike or balloon in it. It sounds crazy, but it's true.

7. What's your favorite picture that you've taken in the last month?

My favorite picture I've taken from the last month is probably this one of my little sister.

8. What's your favorite thing to take pictures of?

My favorite thing to take pictures of? I never know how to answer this question, I probably answer it differently everytime, too. I love to take pictures of really anything! My favorite thing is probably nature, or children. Children especially, they are so fun to photograph.

9. What is your favorite lens that you use?

Well, I only have two lenses right now, and I really only use one of them. I have the kit lens [18-55mm] and a zoom lens which is a 55-200. I use that one more often. I've taken all my latest pictures with that lens.

10. Who are three of your favorite pro photographers?

Three of my favorite pro photographers are Jessica Shae, photography by nealy, and three nails photography, love, love, love their weddings.

Hey everyone! How has your Memorial Day been? Mine has been great! Some of you have heard but some of you haven't... I got a puppy yesterday and a kitten today! :) Okay so on to Happy Monday! I am so sorry about not posting this earlier! I have just not been in the groove I guess! I don't know why! I'm also sorry about not updating the Happy Monday page! I'm about to go do that right now! Hey everyone! :) I have some really good, exciting news! :)

A brand NEW weekly photo challenge. I'm still doing Happy Monday but I'm also co-hosting this one! :)

My new friend Mikayla and I have teamed up and created an fun new challenge for anyone and everyone.

The name is going to be...

Here's how it works.

Each week Mikayla or I will host the challenge on our blogs.

Every theme will start with the words A photo, hence the meaning behind the title.

Each challenge will run from Sunday morning to the following Saturday closing at midnight.

You know my dog that's scared of my camera? The one that will run away from me if I have it? Well the other night he let me take over 100 pictures of him! It made me SO happy! He's such a good dog but he's getting old... That makes me sad. :( He's so cute though! It's cute that he's getting gray hair around his mouth! :)

It was a cloudy breezy day but it made for great pictures!

Happy Monday | Something You Love

If you've been here lately then you know there was no Happy Monday. I just didn't feel like doing it. Today there will be! :) Two weeks ago the theme was green and M won with this cute picture! I think this was my absolute favorite out of all of them! :) M, you can go to the Happy Monday page to grab a winner's button! :)

This week's theme is Something You Love. That can be a person, a thing, or even an animal! :) My picture is of BB, my piano teacher and me. I love this picture! Ms. Lori is such a great teacher! The best we've found. She's so fun but she still teaches us! She had a little stroke while we were at lessons two Thursday's ago. They had to take her to the hospital but she's just fine now! I'm SO glad! I never want to lose Ms. Lori! :)

Have I really not posted in almost a week? I guess I just haven't felt like it... :) Notice the new header and the new background? What do you think? :) I just thought I would post some recent pictures in this post. :)

Kellen graduated from Lee College last Friday night. She couldn't see us at first. We were sitting right behind her and she would turn her head everywhere but right behind! She did it like 4 times and we were just cracking up! :)
